ROUTES AND PATHWAYS EVENT

Invite business speakers and education providers to talk about the various pathways available to young people for their future education and career options.

What is a Route and Pathway Event?

An opportunity for young people to attend an event at their school or college that showcases current job opportunities, potential career paths, and future education opportunities. This is a flexible encounter format. For Example, this can be filtered to look at particular business sectors, such as local STEM industries, if appropriate. Career Events can also be used to focus on the impact of specific areas of learning, for example, numeracy, to show the importance of these outcomes in the world of work and the career options it can open up.

What is the impact of a Routes and Pathways Event?

Students learn about the different routes and pathways after school and into employment. This type of career inspiration event is the ideal way to inform young people about the different career paths available to them after they leave school either in the world of work or education. It offers young people the opportunity to ask detailed questions about potential career paths whether that be further or higher education, straight to work, an apprenticeship, or other steps such as volunteering. This gives them the confidence to plan what happens next and to choose the right career path for them.
